Gerrit Boyle, President
Mr. Boyle was instrumental in launching this new division in 2004 to leverage shelter expertise built in military and commercial markets, with a new focus dedicated to homeland security and emergency response needs. Since that time, BLU-MED has become an industry leader in providing mobile medical facilities designed to augment hospital surge capacity for a variety of public health and disaster response requirements.

During his 15-year tenure with Alaska Structures, Mr. Boyle was the program manager for the development of the Alaska Medical Shelter System, which is currently used by the US Air Force
EMEDS program and the US Army Combat Support Hospital program for their field deployable
medical facilities. Mr. Boyle was also instrumental in the development of the Alaska Small Shelter System, which is used by the US Air Force and US Special Operations Command for their “bare base” housing camps.

Last September, Mr. Boyle led a team of 40 BLU-MED field deployment specialists to set up 350 emergency housing shelters in Belle Chasse and Carville, LA to house 7,000 National Guard troops responding to the devastation caused by Hurricanes Katrina and Rita. Recently, Mr. Boyle has been instrumental in developing an “on call” response capability offered by BLU-MED, along wit
establishing 4 regional stockpiles across the country with (10) 50-bed Disaster Medical Facilities and enough emergency shelters to house up to 10,000 persons, at an approximate value of $20M.
